حَدَّثَنَا حُجَيْنٌ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ قَالَ

بَيْنَمَا رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي وَفَرَسٌ لَهُ - حِصَانٌ - مَرْبُوطٌ فِي الدَّارِ فَجَعَلَ يَنْفِرُ، فَخَرَجَ الرَّجُلُ فَنَظَرَ فَلَمْ يَرَ شَيْئًا وَجَعَلَ يَنْفِرُ، فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَ ذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: تِلْكَ السَّكِينَةُ نَزَلَتْ بِالْقُرْآنِ

Translation

✧ While a man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ was praying, a horse of his—a stallion—was tethered in the house. It began to stir restlessly. The man went out and looked but saw nothing, and it kept stirring. When morning came, he mentioned that to the Prophet ﷺ, who said, 'That was the tranquility (sakinah) that descended with the Quran.'
