✧ I asked al-Barāʾ b. ʿĀzib. I said: “Tell me what the Messenger of God ﷺ forbade regarding sacrificial animals—or what is disliked.” He said: “The Messenger of God ﷺ stood among us, and my hand was shorter than his, and said: ‘Four that are not sufficient: the one-eyed whose defect is clear, the sick whose illness is clear, the lame whose lameness is clear, and the broken one that has no marrow.’” I said: “I dislike that there be a defect in the age, a defect in the ear, and a defect in the horn.” He said: “What you dislike, leave it, but do not forbid it to anyone.”
