✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ delivered a sermon to us on the Day of Sacrifice and said: “None of you should slaughter until we have prayed.” My maternal uncle stood up and said: “O Messenger of God, this is a day on which meat is disliked [to be delayed], and I hastened, and I have slaughtered my sacrificial animal in order to feed my family and the people of my house—or my family and my neighbors.” He said: “You have already done so, so perform another slaughter.” He said: “O Messenger of God, I have a young she-goat that is still suckling, and it is better than two meat-bearing ewes. Shall I slaughter it?” He said: “Yes, and it is the better of your two sacrifices, and a jadhaʿah will not suffice for anyone after you.”
