✧ We were with the Messenger of God ﷺ on a journey, and we stopped at Ghadir Khumm. The call to prayer was announced among us, 'The prayer is gathering,' and the ground was swept for the Messenger of God ﷺ under two trees. He prayed the noon prayer, then took Ali ؓ by the hand and said, 'Do you not know that I have more authority over the believers than their own selves?' They said, 'Yes.' He said, 'Do you not know that I have more authority over every believer than his own self?' They said, 'Yes.' He said, then took Ali by the hand and said, '[O God,] whoever I am his mawla, Ali is his mawla. O God, befriend whoever befriends him, and be hostile to whoever is hostile to him.' He said, 'Umar met him after that and said to him, "Congratulations, O son of Abu Talib, you have become and remained the mawla of every believing man and woman."'
