حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْبَرَاءَ يَقُولُ
قَرَأَ رَجُلٌ الْكَهْفَ، وَفِي الدَّارِ دَابَّةٌ فَجَعَلَتْ تَنْفِرُ، فَنَظَرَ فَإِذَا ضَبَابَةٌ - أَوْ سَحَابَةٌ - قَدْ غَشِيَتْهُ. قَالَ: فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: اقْرَأْ فُلَانُ، فَإِنَّهَا السَّكِينَةُ تَنَزَّلَتْ عِنْدَ الْقُرْآنِ أَوْ تَنَزَّلَتْ لِلْقُرْآنِ.
Translation

✧ A man recited Surat al-Kahf, and there was an animal in the house, and it began to shy away. He looked and saw a mist—or a cloud—covering him. He said, 'He mentioned that to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said, "Recite, so-and-so, for it is the tranquility that descended for the Quran—or descended because of the Quran."'
