✧ al-Nu'man bin Bashir on the Prophet ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ أَخْبَرَنَا سِمَاكُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ قَالَ
كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُسَوِّينَا فِي الصُّفُوفِ، كَمَا تُقَوَّمُ الْقِدَاحُ، حَتَّى إِذَا ظَنَّ أَنَّا قَدْ أَخَذْنَا ذَلِكَ عَنْهُ وَفَهِمْنَاهُ، أَقْبَلَ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ بِوَجْهِهِ فَإِذَا رَجُلٌ مُنْتَبِذٌ بِصَدْرِهِ فَقَالَ: لَتُسَوُّنَّ صُفُوفَكُمْ أَوْ لَيُخَالِفَنَّ اللهُ بَيْنَ وُجُوهِكُمْ
Translation

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ used to straighten our rows as if he were straightening arrows, until he thought that we had learned it from him and understood it. One day he turned his face and saw a man with his chest sticking out. He said: You will straighten your rows, or God will cause your faces to differ.
