✧ The example of the one who flatters and the one who falls into the limits of Allah—Sufyan once said: the one who stands in the limits of Allah—is like three people who boarded a ship. One of them ended up in its lower, roughest, and worst part. He kept going back and forth, and it became burdensome for them every time he passed. He said: 'I will make a hole that will be easier for me, and my passing will not bother them.' Some of them said: 'He is only making a hole in his own share.' Others said: 'No. If they restrain him, he will be saved and they will be saved; but if they leave him, he will perish and they will perish.'
