✧ al-Nu'man bin Bashir on the Prophet ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ أَنَّ أَبَاهُ نَحَلَهُ نُحْلًا فَقَالَتْ

أَنَّ أَبَاهُ نَحَلَهُ نُحْلًا فَقَالَتْ لَهُ أُمُّ النُّعْمَانِ: أَشْهِدْ لِابْنِي عَلَى هَذَا النُّحْلِ، فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ: أَوَكُلَّ وَلَدِكَ أَعْطَيْتَ مَا أَعْطَيْتَ هَذَا ؟ قَالَ: لَا. قَالَ: فَكَرِهَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ يَشْهَدَ لَهُ.

Translation

✧ His father gave him a gift. Umm al-Nu'man said to him: 'Call a witness for my son regarding this gift.' So he went to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned that to him. He said to him: 'Have you given all your children the like of what you gave this one?' He said: 'No.' He said: 'The Messenger of God ﷺ disliked to bear witness for him.'
