✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called me for water. I came to a tent and found a bedouin woman there. I said, "This is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he wants water to perform ablution. Do you have any water?" She said, "May my father and mother be ransom for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. By Allah, no soul under the sky or on the earth is dearer or more precious to me than his soul. But this waterskin is made from the skin of an animal that died, and I would not like to defile the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with it." I returned to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and informed him. He said, "Go back to her; if she has tanned it, it is pure for her." I returned to her and mentioned that to her. She said, "Yes, by Allah, I have tanned it." So I brought him water from it. On that day he was wearing a Syrian jubbah, leather socks, and a khimar. He inserted his hands from under the jubbah—because its sleeves were narrow—then performed ablution and wiped over the khimar and the leather socks.
