حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا مِسْعَرٌ عَنْ أَبِي صَخْرَةَ جَامِعِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ قَالَ
ضِفْتُ بِالنَّبِيِّ ﷺ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ فَأَمَرَ بِجَنْبٍ فَشُوِيَ قَالَ فَأَخَذَ الشَّفْرَةَ فَجَعَلَ يَحُزُّ لِي بِهَا مِنْهُ قَالَ فَجَاءَهُ بِلَالٌ يُؤْذِنُهُ بِالصَّلَاةِ فَأَلْقَى الشَّفْرَةَ وَقَالَ مَا لَهُ تَرِبَتْ يَدَاهُ؟ قَالَ مُغِيرَةُ وَكَانَ شَارِبِي وَفَى فَقَصَّهُ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى سِوَاكٍ أَوْ قَالَ أَقُصُّهُ لَكَ عَلَى سِوَاكٍ

✧ One night I was a guest of the Prophet ﷺ. He ordered a side of meat and it was roasted. He took the knife and began cutting pieces from it for me with it. Then Bilal came to him to announce the prayer, and he threw down the knife and said, “What is wrong with him? May his hands be dusty!” Mughira said, “My mustache had grown long, and the Messenger of God ﷺ trimmed it for me over a siwak,” or he said, “I will trim it for you over a siwak.”
