حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ ابْنِ طَاوُسٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ أَبِي وَدَاعَةَ قَالَ
رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ سَجَدَ فِي النَّجْمِ وَسَجَدَ النَّاسُ مَعَهُ، قَالَ الْمُطَّلِبُ: وَلَمْ أَسْجُدْ مَعَهُمْ، وَهُوَ يَوْمَئِذٍ مُشْرِكٌ، قَالَ الْمُطَّلِبُّ: فَلَا أَدَعُ السُّجُودَ فِيهَا أَبَدًا

✧ I saw the Messenger of God ﷺ prostrate in Sūrat al-Najm, and the people prostrated with him. Al-Muṭṭalib said: I did not prostrate with them, and he was at that time a polytheist. Al-Muṭṭalib said: So I will never abandon prostrating in it ever.
