✧ While he was walking with his lower garment trailing, the Messenger of God ﷺ caught up with him, having taken hold of his own forelock, and he was saying: “O God, Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant.” ʿAmr said: I said: O Messenger of God, I am a man with thin shins. He said: “O ʿAmr, indeed God [Mighty and Majestic] has made beautiful everything He has created, O ʿAmr.” And the Messenger of God ﷺ struck with four fingers of his right palm beneath ʿAmr’s knee and said: “O ʿAmr, this is the place of the lower garment.” Then he raised it, then struck with four fingers below the first four, then said: “O ʿAmr, this is the place of the lower garment.” Then he raised it, then placed it below the second one, and said: “O ʿAmr, this is the place of the lower garment.”
