Amr b. al-As from the Prophet ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يَقُولُكُنْتُ عِنْدَ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ بِالْإِسْكَنْدَرِيَّةِ فَذَكَرُوا مَا هُمْ فِيهِ مِنَ الْعَيْشِ فَقَالَ
كُنْتُ [بِالْإِسْكَنْدَرِيَّةِ عِنْدَ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ]، فَذَكَرُوا مَا هُمْ فِيهِ مِنَ الْعَيْشِ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الصَّحَابَةِ: لَقَدْ تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَمَا شَبِعَ أَهْلُهُ مِنَ الْخُبْزِ الْغَلِيثِ.

✧ I was in Alexandria with ʿAmr b. al-ʿĀṣ, and they mentioned the comfortable life they were living. A man from the Companions said: The Messenger of God ﷺ passed away while his family had never had their fill of coarse bread.
