✧ Uqbah b. Amir al-Juhani used to go out and shoot every day, and he would ask me to follow him, and it seemed he was about to grow weary. He said: 'Shall I not tell you what I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?' I said: 'Yes.' He said: 'I heard him say: Allah [Mighty and Majestic] will admit three people into Paradise by a single arrow: its maker who seeks good in making it, the one who supplies it in the way of Allah, and the one who shoots it in the way of Allah.' And he said: 'Shoot and ride, and to shoot is better than to ride.' And he said: 'Everything a son of Adam does for amusement is false except three: shooting with his bow, training his horse, and playing with his family, for they are from the truth.' He said: 'Uqbah died having seventy-some or eighty-some bows, with each bow a quiver and arrows, and he bequeathed them in the way of Allah.'
