✧ Abu Ayyub Khalid b. Zayd al-Ansari, the Companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, came to us in Egypt as a warrior. Uqbah b. Amir b. Abs al-Juhani had been appointed over us by Muawiyah b. Abi Sufyan. He said: He delayed Uqbah b. Amir at Maghrib. When he prayed, Abu Ayyub al-Ansari stood up to him and said: 'O Uqbah, is this how you saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pray Maghrib? Did you not hear him say: My community will remain in good — or on the natural disposition — as long as they do not delay Maghrib until the stars intertwine?' He said: He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'What made you do what you did?' He said: 'I was busy.' He said: Abu Ayyub said: 'By Allah, I only do this so that people may not think that you saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do this.'
