✧ My uncle Zuhayr b. Rāfiʿ met me and said: 'O nephew, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has forbidden us something that was beneficial to us.' I said: 'What is it, uncle?' He said: 'He forbade us to lease our fields, meaning our land at Ṣirār.' I said: 'Uncle, obedience to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is more entitled.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'For what do you lease it?' He said: 'For the small water channel and a few saʿs of barley.' He said: 'Do not do that. Cultivate it yourselves or let it be cultivated.' So we sold our lands at Ṣirār.
