✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to us: The people should be led in prayer by the one who has memorized the most of the Book of Allah—Exalted is He—and is the earliest in recitation. If their recitation is equal, then the one who made the earliest hijrah should lead them. If they are equal in hijrah, then the oldest of them should lead them. And a man should not be led in prayer in his own household, nor in his dominion, nor should one sit on his honored place in his house except with his permission or by his leave.

machine translationIts transmission revolves around Ismāʿīl b. Rajāʾ, from Aws b. Ḍamʿaj, from him. Neither of the two meets the condition of al-Bukhārī. Ibn Abī Ḥātim reported in al-ʿIlal from his father that Shuʿbah used to withhold judgement on the authenticity of this hadith. However, in general it is suitable to be used as evidence according to al-Bukhārī.
