حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍعَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ
جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، وَاللهِ إِنِّي لَأَتَأَخَّرُ فِي صَلَاةِ الْغَدَاةِ، مَخَافَةَ فُلَانٍ يَعْنِي إِمَامَهُمْ، قَالَ: فَمَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَشَدَّ غَضَبًا فِي مَوْعِظَةٍ مِنْهُ يَوْمَئِذٍ. فَقَالَ: أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، إِنَّ مِنْكُمْ مُنَفِّرِينَ، فَأَيُّكُمْ مَا صَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ فَلْيُخَفِّفْ، فَإِنَّ فِيهِمُ الضَّعِيفَ وَالْكَبِيرَ وَذَا الْحَاجَةِ
Translation

✧ A man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah, by Allah I delay the dawn prayer, fearing so-and-so—meaning their imam. He said: I never saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ angrier in an admonition than he was that day. He said: O people, some of you drive people away. Whoever leads people in prayer should make it brief, for among them are the weak, the elderly, and those with needs.
