✧ When he fought a people and defeated them, he would stay in the open space for three [days]. On the day of Badr, he ordered that the leaders of Quraysh be thrown into one of the foul, stinking wells of Badr. He said: Then he went to them and we went with him. Then he said: 'O Abu Jahl b. Hisham, O 'Utba b. Rabi'a, O Shayba b. Rabi'a, O Walid b. 'Utba, have you found what your Lord promised you to be true? For I have found what my Lord promised me to be true.' 'Umar said: 'O Messenger of God, do you speak to bodies in which there are no souls?' He said: 'By the One Who sent me with the truth, you are not more able to hear what I say than they are.' Qatada said: God, Mighty and Majestic, brought them back to life so that they could hear his words as a rebuke, humiliation, and belittlement.
