What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

  • Abū Ḥatim al-Rāzī

machine translationQatādah is the better memorizer.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 16509

machine translationI do not find anything in this hadith to suggest that both of them could be sound. As for Muṭarrif from his father, I do not know how that is. And al-Jurayrī's memory deteriorated toward the end of his life, and he is not that reliable a memorizer (ḥāfiẓ).

    in مسند أحمد, p. 16509
