✧ About the man who passed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was conversing privately with Jibril ﷺ. Abu Salama asserted that he avoided drawing near to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ out of fear of overhearing his conversation. When morning came, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: 'What prevented you from greeting me when you passed by me last night?' He said: 'I saw you conversing privately with a man, and I feared you would dislike me drawing near to you two.' He said: 'Do you know who the man was?' He said: 'No.' He said: 'That was Jibril ﷺ, and had you greeted, he would have returned the greeting.'
