✧ We returned with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ until when we were at al-Kadid—or he said Qudayd—some men began seeking permission to go to their families, and he would grant them permission. He said: He praised and extolled Allah and spoke well, then said: 'I bear witness before Allah that no servant dies bearing witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, truthfully from his heart, and then remains upright, except that he will be admitted to Paradise.' Then he said: 'My Lord has promised me to admit seventy thousand of my community without reckoning, and I hope that they will not enter it until you and the righteous among your wives and offspring take up dwellings in Paradise.' And he said: 'When half the night or a third of the night has passed, Allah, Mighty and Exalted, descends to the lowest heaven and says: I do not ask about My servants anyone other than Myself. Who seeks My forgiveness that I may forgive him? Who calls upon Me that I may answer him? Who asks of Me that I may give him?—until dawn breaks.'
