حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا الْعَوَّامُ بْنُ حَوْشَبٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ مَوْلَى صُخَيْرٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ
أَرَادَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ يَنْهَى عَنْ بَيْعٍ، فَقَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّهَا مَعَايِشُنَا قَالَ: فَقَالَ: لَا خِلَابَ إِذًا وَكُنَّا نُسَمَّى السَّمَاسِرَةَ،
Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ wanted to prohibit a kind of sale, but they said: 'O Messenger of Allah, it is our livelihood.' He said: 'Then there is no cheating.' And we were called al-samāsirah (brokers).
