✧ A hadith reached me from a man who heard it from the Messenger of God ﷺ, so I bought a camel, saddled it, and traveled to him for a month until I reached him in Syria. He was ʿAbd Allāh b. Unays. I said to the doorkeeper: “Tell him that Jābir is at the door.” He said: “The son of ʿAbd Allāh?” I said: “Yes.” He came out stepping on his garment and embraced me, and I embraced him. I said: “A hadith has reached me from you that you heard from the Messenger of God ﷺ about retaliation, and I feared that you might die or I might die before I hear it.” He said: “I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: ‘People—or he said servants—will be gathered on the Day of Resurrection naked, uncircumcised, and buhman.’” He said: “We asked: ‘What does buhman mean?’ He said: ‘They will have nothing with them. Then He will call them with a voice that is heard by those near: “I am the King, I am the Judge.” It is not proper for any of the people of Hell to enter Hell if he has a right due from any of the people of Paradise until I exact it from him. Nor is it proper for any of the people of Paradise to enter Paradise if any of the people of Hell has a right due from him until I exact it from him—even for a slap.’” He said: “We asked: ‘How can that be, when we will come to God, Mighty and Majestic, naked, uncircumcised, and buhman?’ He said: ‘By good deeds and bad deeds.’”
