[قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ] حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ ذَكْوَانَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ قَالَ
رَأَيْتُ رَجُلًا يُقَالُ لَهُ: رَبِيعَةُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ الدَّيْلِيُّ قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَمُرُّ فِي فِجَاجِ ذِي الْمَجَازِ إِلَّا أَنَّهُمْ يَتَّبِعُونَهُ، وَقَالُوا: هَذَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ، قَالَ: وَرَجُلٌ أَحْوَلُ وَضِيءُ الْوَجْهِ ذُو غَدِيرَتَيْنِ يَتَّبِعُهُ فِي فِجَاجِ ذِي الْمَجَازِ وَيَقُولُ: إِنَّهُ صَابِئٌ كَاذِبٌ. فَقُلْتُ: مَنْ هَذَا ؟ قَالُوا: هَذَا عَمُّهُ أَبُو لَهَبٍ.

✧ I saw a man called Rabiʿa ibn ʿAbbad al-Dayli say: I saw the Messenger of God ﷺ while he was passing through the mountain passes of Dhu al-Majaz, and they were following him. They said: 'This is Muhammad ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿAbd al-Muttalib.' He said: And a cross-eyed, handsome-faced man with two braids was following him through the mountain passes of Dhu al-Majaz, saying: 'He is a Sabian, a liar.' I said: 'Who is this?' They said: 'This is his uncle Abu Lahab.'
