✧ He met the Messenger of God ﷺ during the Farewell Pilgrimage, and I said: May my father be your ransom, O Messenger of God, ask forgiveness for me! He said: May God forgive you. He said, while he was on his she-camel al-ʿAḍbāʾ: Then I went around to the other side, hoping he would single me out apart from the people. I said: Ask forgiveness for me! He said: May God forgive you. A man said: O Messenger of God, the farāʾiʿ and the ʿatāʾir? He said: Whoever wishes may offer a faraʿ, and whoever wishes may not; and whoever wishes may offer an ʿatīra, and whoever wishes may not. In the sheep is a sacrificial animal. Then he said: Indeed your blood and your property are sacred to you, like the sanctity of this day of yours in this land of yours.
