✧ I went out with ‘Ali to Yemen, and he treated me harshly during that journey until I felt resentment toward him. When I arrived, I made my complaint public in the mosque until it reached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I entered the mosque one morning while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was among a group of his companions. When he saw me, he fixed his eyes on me—meaning he stared at me—until I sat down. Then he said, “O ‘Amr, by Allah, you have hurt me.” I said, “I seek refuge in Allah from hurting you, O Messenger of Allah!” He said, “Yes, whoever hurts ‘Ali has hurt me.”
