حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا السَّائِبُ بْنُ حُبَيْشٍ عَنْ أَبِي الشَّمَّاخِ الْأَزْدِيِّ
أَنَّهُ أَتَى مُعَاوِيَةَ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ، وَقَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: مَنْ وَلِيَ مِنْ أَمْرِ النَّاسِ، ثُمَّ أَغْلَقَ بَابَهُ دُونَ الْمِسْكِينِ أَوِ الْمَظْلُومِ أَوْ ذِي الْحَاجَةِ - أَغْلَقَ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ دُونَهُ أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِهِ عِنْدَ حَاجَتِهِ وَفَقْرِهِ أَفْقَرَ مَا يَكُونُ إِلَيْهَا.

✧ That he came to Mu'awiyah and entered upon him, and said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Whoever is put in charge of any affair of the people, then closes his door against the destitute, the wronged, or the one in need - Allah, Mighty and Majestic, will close against him the doors of His mercy when he is in need and poverty, at the time when he is most in need of it.
