✧ Amr bin Salamah, about the Prophet ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ قَالَ خَالِدٌ الْحَذَّاءُ أَخْبَرَنِي عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَعَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَلِمَةَ قَالَ

كَانَ تَأْتِينَا الرُّكْبَانُ مِنْ قِبَلِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَنَسْتَقْرِئُهُمْ، فَيُحَدِّثُونَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ: لِيَؤُمَّكُمْ أَكْثَرُكُمْ قُرْآنًا

Translation

✧ Caravans used to come to us from the direction of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and we would ask them to recite. They would tell us that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Let the one who knows the most Quran among you lead you."
