حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مَالِكٍ الْأَشْجَعِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي أَنَّهُ
سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِذَا أَتَاهُ الْإِنْسَانُ يَقُولُ: كَيْفَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَقُولُ حِينَ أَسْأَلُ رَبِّي؟ قَالَ: قُلِ: اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي، وَارْحَمْنِي، وَاهْدِنِي، وَارْزُقْنِي - وَقَبَضَ أَصَابِعَهُ الْأَرْبَعَ إِلَّا الْإِبْهَامَ - فَإِنَّ هَؤُلَاءِ يَجْمَعْنَ لَكَ دُنْيَاكَ وَآخِرَتَكَ.
Translation

✧ He heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, when a man came to him and said: 'How, O Messenger of Allah, should I say when I ask my Lord?' He said: 'Say: O Allah, forgive me, have mercy on me, guide me, and provide for me' — and he closed his four fingers except the thumb — 'for these gather for you your worldly life and your Hereafter.'
