✧ He used to pray, and in his supplication he would say: O Allah, I ask You for Paradise, and I ask You for its bliss and splendor, and for such and such, and for such and such, and for such and such, and for such and such, and I seek refuge in You from the Fire, and from its chains and shackles, and from such and such, and from such and such. He said: Sa'd fell silent about it. When he finished praying, Sa'd said to him: You sought refuge from a mighty evil, and you asked for mighty bliss — or he said: prolonged, Shu'bah was uncertain — The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: There will be people who transgress in supplication, and he recited: "Call upon your Lord humbly and in secret; indeed, He does not like the transgressors." Shu'bah said: I do not know whether his words "Call upon your Lord humbly and in secret" are from the words of Sa'd or the words of the Prophet ﷺ. And Sa'd said to him: Say: O Allah, I ask You for Paradise, and whatever draws near to it of word or deed, and I seek refuge in You from the Fire, and whatever draws near to it of word or deed.
