حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ حَنْظَلَةَ الزُّرَقِيِّ عَنْ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ
أَنَّ النَّاسَ كَانُوا يُكْرُونَ الْمَزَارِعَ فِي زَمَانِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بِالْمَاذِيَانَاتِ وَمَا سَقَى الرَّبِيعُ وَشَيْءٍ مِنَ التِّبْنِ، فَكَرِهَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ كِرَاءَ الْمَزَارِعِ بِهَذَا، وَنَهَى عَنْهَا. قَالَ رَافِعٌ: لَا بَأْسَ بِكِرَائِهَا بِالدَّرَاهِمِ وَالدَّنَانِيرِ

✧ That the people used to lease farmlands in the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for the spring-fed channels, what the spring rains irrigated, and a portion of the straw. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ disliked leasing farmlands for this and forbade it. Rafi’ said: There is no harm in leasing them for dirhams and dinars.
