✧ Abdul Rahman b. Safwan, about the Prophet ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ أَخْبَرَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ صَفْوَانَ قَالَ

لَمَّا افْتَتَحَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَكَّةَ قُلْتُ: لَأَلْبَسَنَّ ثِيَابِي، وَكَانَ دَارِي عَلَى الطَّرِيقِ فَلَأَنْظُرَنَّ مَا يَصْنَعُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ، فَانْطَلَقْتُ فَوَافَقْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَدْ خَرَجَ مِنَ الْكَعْبَةِ وَأَصْحَابُهُ قَدِ اسْتَلَمُوا الْبَيْتَ مِنَ الْبَابِ إِلَى الْحَطِيمِ، وَقَدْ وَضَعُوا خُدُودَهُمْ عَلَى الْبَيْتِ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَسْطَهُمْ، فَقُلْتُ لِعُمَرَ: كَيْفَ صَنَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حِينَ دَخَلَ الْكَعْبَةَ ؟ قَالَ: صَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ

Translation

✧ When the Messenger of God ﷺ conquered Makkah, I said: 'I will wear my clothes'—my house was on the road—'and I will see what the Messenger of God ﷺ does.' I went and found the Messenger of God ﷺ coming out of the Kaaba, and his Companions had touched the House from the Door to the Hijr, placing their cheeks upon the House, with the Messenger of God ﷺ among them. I said to Umar: 'What did the Messenger of God ﷺ do when he entered the Kaaba?' He said: 'He prayed two rak'ahs.'
