حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ لِعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ وَطَلْحَةَ وَالزُّبَيْرِ وَسَعْدٍ
نَشَدْتُكُمُ اللهَ الَّذِي تَقُومُ بِهِ السَّمَاءُ وَالْأَرْضُ، وَقَالَ مَرَّةً: الَّذِي بِإِذْنِهِ تَقُومُ، أَعَلِمْتُمْ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ: إِنَّا لَا نُورَثُ، مَا تَرَكْنَا صَدَقَةٌ ؟ قَالُوا: اللَّهُمَّ نَعَمْ

✧ I adjure you by Allah, by whom the heaven and the earth stand — and he said once: by whose permission they stand — do you know that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'We do not leave inheritance; what we leave is charity'? They said: 'O Allah, yes.'
