✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by al-’Arj and found a wounded donkey. It was not long before a man from Bahz came and said, “O Messenger of Allah, this is my quarry, so it is yours to do with as you please.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered Abu Bakr, and he divided it among the traveling parties. Then he traveled on until he reached the mountain pass of Uthaya, where he found a gazelle with an arrow in it, lying in the shade of a rock. The Prophet ﷺ ordered one of his companions, saying, “Stand here until the traveling parties pass, so that no one shoots at it with anything.”

machine translationAl-Dāraqutnī was asked about it and said: Ibn ʿUyaynah was alone in narrating it from Yaḥyā b. Saʿīd. Al-Dāraqutnī narrated it from Abū ʿUmar Muḥammad b. Yūsuf al-Qāḍī, from Ismāʿīl b. Isḥāq, from ʿAlī b. al-Madīnī, from Sufyān b. ʿUyaynah, and he mentioned it. ʿAlī b. al-Madīnī said: I said to Sufyān, when I came to this hadith, this hadith from ʿĪsā b. Ṭalḥah from his father, that it is with al-Thaqafī, from Yaḥyā b. Saʿīd, from Muḥammad b. Ibrāhīm, from ʿĪsā b. Ṭalḥah, from ʿUmayr b. Salamah, from al-Bahzī. Sufyān said: I thought it was from Ṭalḥah, but I am not certain of it; as for the hadith, I have brought it to you. Al-Dāraqutnī said: The correct view according to us is that ʿUmayr b. Salamah narrated this hadith from the Prophet ﷺ, with no one between him and the Prophet ﷺ.
in مسند أحمد, p. 15616 - Dāraquṭnī
machine translationAnd the sound (ṣaḥīḥ) report in our view is that ʿUmayr b. Salamah narrated this hadith from the Prophet ﷺ, with no one between him and the Prophet ﷺ.
