✧ Iyas b. Abd from the Companions of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ أَنَّ أَبَا الْمِنْهَالِ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ إِيَاسَ بْنَ عَبْدٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ

لَا تَبِيعُوا فَضْلَ الْمَاءِ؛ فَإِنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَهَى عَنْ بَيْعِ الْمَاءِ، قَالَ: وَالنَّاسُ يَبِيعُونَ مَاءَ الْفُرَاتِ فَنَهَاهُمْ

Translation

✧ Do not sell surplus water, for the Prophet ﷺ forbade the sale of water. He said: And the people were selling the water of the Euphrates, so he forbade them.
