✧ There were two brothers in the time of the Messenger of God ﷺ, one of them more virtuous than the other. The more virtuous one died, then the other lived after him for forty nights and then died. The virtue of the first over the second was mentioned to the Messenger of God ﷺ. He said: Did he not used to pray? They said: Yes, O Messenger of God, and there was no harm in him. He said: What makes you know what his prayer attained for him? Then he said: Indeed the likeness of prayer is that of a flowing river at a man's door, abundant and fresh, into which he plunges five times every day. What do you think it leaves of his filth?
