حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ النُّعْمَانِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ سَأَلَ أَهْلَهُ الْإِدَامَ، فَقَالُوا: مَا عِنْدَنَا إِلَّا الْخَلُّ، قَالَ: فَدَعَا بِهِ فَجَعَلَ يَأْكُلُ [بِهِ] وَيَقُولُ: نِعْمَ الْإِدَامُ الْخَلُّ، نِعْمَ الْإِدَامُ الْخَلُّ

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked his family for a condiment, and they said: We have nothing but vinegar. He said: Bring it. Then he began to eat with it and say: What an excellent condiment vinegar is, what an excellent condiment vinegar is.
