حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ مَوْلَى الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ، قَالَ:
سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الرُّطَبِ بِالتَّمْرِ؟ فَقَالَ: أَلَيْسَ يَنْقُصُ الرُّطَبُ إِذَا يَبِسَ؟ قَالُوا: بَلَى، فَكَرِهَهُ

But the matter is not as he imagined, for this Abū ʿAyyāsh is a well-known freed slave (mawlā) of Banū Zuhrah, and Mālik mentioned him in the Muwaṭṭaʾ, and Mālik does not narrate from a man whose hadith is abandoned (matrūk) in any way. This is Mālik's way and his habit.
