✧ Sa'd heard one of his sons supplicating, saying: 'O Allah, I ask You for Paradise and its bliss and its silk brocade,' and the like of that, 'and I seek refuge in You from the Fire and its chains and its shackles.' He said: 'You have asked Allah for much good, and you have sought refuge with Allah from much evil. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "There will be people who transgress in supplication," and he recited this verse: "Call upon your Lord humbly and secretly; indeed, He does not like transgressors" (al-A'raf 7:55). It is sufficient for you to say: "O Allah, I ask You for Paradise and whatever word or deed brings me near to it, and I seek refuge in You from the Fire and whatever word or deed brings me near to it."'
