✧ He asked Jabir b. Abdullah about the two trial-angels of the grave, and he said: I heard the Prophet ﷺ say: This community will be tested in its graves. When the believer is placed in his grave and his companions turn away from him, an angel with mighty presence comes and says to him: What did you say about this man? The believer says: I say that he is the Messenger of God and His servant. The angel says to him: Look at your seat that was in the Fire; God has saved you from it and replaced it with the seat you see in Paradise instead of your seat in the Fire, and he sees them both. The believer says: Let me go give my family the good news. It is said to him: Be still. As for the hypocrite, he is seated when his family turns away from him. It is said to him: What did you say about this man? He says: I do not know; I say what people say. It is said to him: You did not know. This is your seat that was in Paradise, replaced instead with your seat in the Fire. Jabir said: I heard the Prophet ﷺ say: Every servant will be resurrected in the grave upon what he died: the believer upon his faith and the hypocrite upon his hypocrisy.
