حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ
أَنَّ أُمَّ مَالِكٍ الْبَهْزِيَّةَ كَانَتْ تُهْدِي فِي عُكَّةٍ لَهَا سَمْنًا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَبَيْنَا بَنُوهَا يَسْأَلُونَهَا الْإِدَامَ وَلَيْسَ عِنْدَهَا شَيْءٌ، فَعَمَدَتْ إِلَى عُكَّتِهَا الَّتِي كَانَتْ تُهْدِي فِيهَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَوَجَدَتْ فِيهَا سَمْنًا فَمَا زَالَ يَدُومُ لَهَا أُدْمُ بَيْتِهَا حَتَّى عَصَرَتْهُ وَأَتَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ: أَعَصَرْتِيهِ؟ قَالَتْ: نَعَمْ قَالَ: لَوْ تَرَكْتِيهِ مَا زَالَ ذَلِكَ لَكِ مُقِيمًا.

✧ Umm Malik al-Bahziyya used to send ghee to the Messenger of God ﷺ in a leather container. While her sons were asking her for condiment, and she had nothing, she went to her container from which she used to send to the Messenger of God ﷺ and found ghee in it. It continued to supply the condiment for her household until she squeezed it dry. She went to the Messenger of God ﷺ and he said: "Did you squeeze it dry?" She said: "Yes." He said: "If you had left it, it would have remained for you forever."
