✧ A monk gifted the Messenger of God ﷺ a robe of fine silk brocade, and the Messenger of God ﷺ wore it. Then he came home and put it down, and he sensed a delegation coming to him. Umar told him to wear the robe for the delegation's arrival, but the Messenger of God ﷺ said: "Wearing it does not befit us in this world, yet it will befit us in the Hereafter. But take it, Umar." Umar said: "You dislike it, and I should take it?" He said: "I am not telling you to wear it; rather, send it to the land of Persia and obtain some wealth for it." So the Messenger of God ﷺ sent it to the Negus, who had been kind to those of the Messenger of God's Companions ﷺ who had fled to him.
