✧ He entered upon Jabir b. ‘Abd Allah while he was praying in a single garment with other clothes beside him. When he finished his prayer, I said: “May Allah forgive you, O Abu ‘Abd Allah! You pray in a single garment while your clothes are beside you?” He said: “I wanted a fool like you to enter upon me and see me praying in a single garment. Did every companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ have two garments?” Then Jabir began to narrate to us, saying: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘If the garment is wide, wrap it over your shoulders and pray. If it is too narrow for that, tie it around your waist and pray without folding it.’”
