✧ We entered upon Jabir b. Abdullah while he was praying in a single garment, wrapping himself with it, and his cloak was close by; if he had reached for it, he could have gotten it. When he said the salam, we asked him about that, and he said: I only do this so that fools like you may see me and spread about Jabir a concession that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ granted. Then Jabir said: I went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on one of his journeys, and I came to him one night while he was praying in a single garment, and I had on a single garment, so I wrapped myself with it, then stood beside him. He said: O Jabir, what is this wrapping? When you pray and you have on a single garment, if it is wide, wrap yourself with it, and if it is narrow, tie it around your waist.
