حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ حَدَّثَنِي حُسَيْنُ بْنُ وَاقِدٍ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ قَالَسَمِعْتُ جَابِرًا يَقُولُ

مَرَّ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِرَجُلٍ يُقَلِّبُ ظَهْرَهُ لِبَطْنٍ، فَسَأَلَ عَنْهُ، فَقَالُوا: صَائِمٌ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ، فَدَعَاهُ، فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يُفْطِرَ، فَقَالَ: أَمَا يَكْفِيكَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ، وَمَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ، حَتَّى تَصُومَ.

Translation

✧ The Prophet ﷺ passed by a man turning his back onto his stomach, so he asked about him. They said, 'He is fasting, O Prophet of Allah.' He called him and ordered him to break his fast, and said, 'Is it not enough for you in the path of Allah, and with the Messenger of Allah, that you fast?'
