✧ On the day of Khaybar, the people were struck by hunger, so they took the domestic donkeys, slaughtered them, and filled the cooking pots with them. That reached the Prophet of God ﷺ. Jabir said: The Messenger of God ﷺ ordered us, so we overturned the pots. He said: God [Mighty and Majestic] will bring you provision that is more lawful for you than this and better than this. He said: So we overturned the pots that day while they were boiling. Thus the Messenger of God ﷺ forbade that day the domestic donkeys, the flesh of mules, every beast of prey with fangs, every bird with talons, and he forbade animals killed by being held down and strangled, and stolen property, and plunder.
