✧ He used to say in his sermon after the tashahhud: 'The best of speech is the Book of Allah [Mighty and Majestic], and the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad.' Yahya said: 'I only know that he also said: And the worst of matters are their newly invented ones.' And when he mentioned the Hour, he would raise his voice with it and his anger would intensify, as if he were warning of an army. Then he would say: 'I was sent and the Hour is like these two,' and he gestured—Yahya described it with the forefinger and the middle finger.

machine translationJaʿfar b. Muḥammad narrates it from his father, and there is disagreement about it from him. Abū Uways, Abū Ḍamrah, ʿAbd al-Wahhāb al-Thaqafī and Yaḥyā b. Sulaymān narrated it from Jaʿfar from Jābir, while Ibn ʿUyaynah transmitted it as a mursal report (irsāl) from Jaʿfar from his father from the Prophet ﷺ. And it is authentic (ṣaḥīḥ) from Jābir.
