✧ We, the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ, entered ihram for Hajj alone, with nothing else besides it—purely by itself. We arrived in Makkah on the morning of the fourth of Dhu al-Hijjah. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Exit ihram and make it an 'umrah." News reached him that we were saying: "When there are only five days between us and 'Arafah, he commands us to exit ihram and go to Mina while our private parts are dripping with semen." So he addressed us and said: "I have heard what you said. Indeed, I am the most God-fearing and most righteous of you, and were it not for the sacrificial animal, I would have exited ihram. If I could go back in my affair and not have brought the sacrificial animal, I would not have brought it. Exit ihram and make it an 'umrah." He said: "Then 'Ali arrived from Yemen. The Prophet ﷺ asked: 'With what did you enter ihram?' He replied: 'With what the Prophet ﷺ entered ihram.' The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Then offer the sacrificial animal and remain in ihram as you are.'"
