✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent out a detachment of three hundred, and he appointed Abu Ubaydah b. al-Jarrah over them. Our provisions ran out, so Abu Ubaydah gathered their provisions and put them in a bag, and he rationed them to us until each day we received a single date. A man said to him: O Abu Abd Allah, what did a single date avail you? He said: We felt its loss when it was gone. Then we reached the seashore, and there was a fish like a great hill. He said: That army ate from it for eighteen nights. Then Abu Ubaydah took two ribs from its ribs and set them up, then he ordered a mount to be saddled, and it passed beneath them without touching anything.
